Eyelash tint is a cosmetic procedure that consists of applying a specialized tint to the lash area and creates darker, seemingly thicker lashes that last up to a few weeks. The process takes around 10 minutes from start to finish, but you must take care of the lashes and avoid certain factors to ensure the process will last.
Anyone who decides to get a lash tint should wait a minimum of 12 hours to after the tinting process before coming in contact with water. You are allowed to shower, as long as you protect your eyelashes and avoid getting them wet. Any contact beforehand can cause the tint to wash off.
Some individuals prefer to wait even longer than the recommended 12 hours to ensure their tint has completely set. This is up to each person, however, make sure to consult your eyelash esthetician since the time may vary depending on the color and formula of the tint applied.
While eyelash extensions have become an extremely common practice, eyelash lifting and tinting has surged as a method to make lashes seem longer, fuller, and thicker, without having to apply extensions and with a seemingly more natural finish.
Lashes are one of the most prominent features of the face, and can make a big difference when they are done up. This is why many people save up and attempt the eyelash tinting process, as this is a great way to wake up with naturally dark lashes everyday without the need for mascara and other products.
The process of application is quick, painless, and the effect is immediate. The same tint is commonly applied on eyebrows as well, and the two are usually applied under the same appointment. Tinting requires a licensed professional, so make sure to book an appointment at a certified beauty center to do so.
There are endless dyes that can be applied to your lashes, but the certified safest are vegetable based dyes. These are great for individuals who suffer from sensitivities, since the ocular area tends to be extremely sensitive, even more so than the rest of the face.
Avoid getting a lash tint altogether if you suffer from conjunctivitis or eye infections, since the tint could worsen these conditions. If after getting the tint applied you notice any sort of an allergic reaction, wash off the product immediately to avoid any serious side effects. All eyes and skin types are different, and just because a product is considered safe for most people does not mean your skin won’t react poorly towards it. Most lash tints cost approximately between $20.00 to $40.00 but this may vary on location and what salon you go to.
Lash tints are highly worth it for individuals who want to amp up the appearance of their natural lashes, without having to commit to extensions or having to wear mascara on the daily. The price point is accessible to most, especially since the treatment lasts a few weeks when correctly cared for.

12 Hour Wait
It is normal for your lashes to look a lot darker than expected after the tint has just been applied. After the 12 hour wait, and subsequent washing of the area, the lashes will become the color you originally desired, probably a more natural shade than when first applied.
The initial darkness may last a few days but will subsequently fade. It is important to wait a full 12 hours since this gives the lash tint enough time to completely dry and sink into each hair, enough so that it will not wash off easily. Any contact with water beforehand will make the process and cost not worth it. Users should avoid using any oil based makeup removers as well, since these could remove the lash tint and ruin the process.
