Estée Lauder is a trusted and reliable brand, but before you splash the cash on one of their most reputable foundations, you need to make sure that the coverage will be right for you. Is it really full coverage?
Yes, Estée Lauder’s Double Wear Stay-in-place foundation is known to be full coverage. The brand advertises the foundation as ‘medium-full’ coverage and states that it is buildable. If you struggle with redness, such as rosacea, or if you’re looking achieve that flawless complexion, this foundation may be perfect for you.
Will it cover up freckles?
I know some of you may be reading this thinking “Why would you ever want to cover up beautiful freckles?”. I agree that freckles are gorgeous and need to be appreciated, however, there are some times when you want to mix it up a little., and that’s fine too.
From personal experience, this foundation doesn’t completely cover up my freckles which can still faintly be seen underneath. Although, that being said, that is me being very picky and they are barely visible from the naked eye. In this sense I do believe that if you apply another layer of the foundation it will over up most freckles. If you are going to build up this foundation, you must act quickly and apply it whilst it is still freshly blended, as this foundation dries very quickly. Trust me, you do not want to make the mistake of applying another layer once it has dried – it will remove the layer underneath, which you have just perfectly blended out, causing you to have to start all over again!
Does it look cakey?
A lot of people associate full coverage with cake (and not the yummy kind – you won’t be looking like a snack). However, this foundation defies all those theories. Due to it being in the higher end of the market, you would expect that there is some sort of genius behind the formulation of this foundation. And we’ve come to the conclusion: there must be! They have managed to make it so it is medium-to-full coverage without it looking like you have cake mixture on your face. It is also versatile enough that you can still apply a very small amount for when you’re not feeling like a heavy makeup day. Does it maintain coverage throughout the day?
This foundation is one of the only ones I’ve tried which actually does what it says with regards to ‘staying-in-place’. It says that it has a staying power of 24 hours, and although I’m not sure who would want to keep their makeup on for that long intentionally, I must say it has lasted a couple of nights when I forgot to remove it the night before, waking up with a flawless face (oops).
So, if you’re looking for a long-lasting, full coverage foundation, I highly recommend this one. It is on the more expensive side, but based on the thousands of positive reviews, you’re more than likely to fall in love.
